Appointment of Luca Myers as Director of Music and Music Outreach at St Peter’s Church Streatham

Fr Steffan Mathias (Vicar) and the Parochial Church Council of St Peter’s Church, Streatham are pleased to announce the appointment of Luca Myers to the post of Director of Music and Music Outreach from September 2024.

Luca was formerly the Senior Organ Scholar at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge where he is a prize-winning history undergraduate. Whilst a scholar, he studied organ performance under Stephen Farr and Jeremiah Stephenson. Luca accompanied three choral premieres, as well as giving the premiere of a further three organ works. He also accompanied the college choir’s first BBC Radio 3 Choral Evensong broadcast for many years.

Prior to joining the choir at Sidney Sussex, Luca was organ scholar under Robert Poyser at Beverley Minster. As well as his regular duties there, highlights from this role include the conducting of Langlais’ Messe Sollenelle, accompanying the live-streamed Nine Lessons and Carols services for three consecutive years, and touring extensively with the choir, to Gloucester and Bristol Cathedrals as head chorister, and to Chelmsford Cathedral and St James the Great, Colchester, as organist. In holding this position, Luca benefitted from being given responsibility not only in accompanying the choir, but also directing in high-profile services, such as the Christmas Eucharist and Ash Wednesday.

Luca is a zealous recitalist, appearing most notably in the 2023 summer celebrity series at Selby Abbey, as well as at Sheffield Cathedral, and various colleges across Cambridge. With the choir at Sidney, Luca has benefitted from international tours, and has performed in venues such as St Thomas’ Church, New York City, the National Cathedral in Washington and Westminster Abbey.
